I always believed at some level that I was a "mistake" and that I had to bury who I was - in order to survive financially... or otherwise. The most precious gift that Anne - and the Living in Process Community - has given me is the support for me to be simply who I am, who I am created to be. I find that - with their encouragement and support - I can allow myself to stay with my feelings and to be with my process around whatever they are - no matter how overwhelming they may seem... and then I am no longer isolated and alone... I open up to something Greater than myself - a Process that moves me deeper into a place of genuine healing and connectedness with all that there is.

I also need to say - there are no rules... and so while I hesitate to say something about going to the mats (which is the way many people stay with their feelings) because in my head I say: "I don't do the mats well," the truth is that my process is my process... I've had many significant shifts over the years... that have come the way they were meant to come.

I also really appreciate Anne's emphasis on the need for me to face my addictions - trying to address whatever I use in order to get away from my feelings and who I am created to be. I find that in working a Twelve Step program, I'm enjoying life more. I can accept my feelings, be with others as they are; and believing that in end that the situation - whatever it is - is in my Higher Pwer's hands - I can participate in a way that works.

Anne Wilson Schaef has taught me a Spiritual way of living that leads to a deep healing, and a way to live in the world in my humanness - something that I certainly never learned before! I value her commitment to this work, and her love that extends to everyone she meets.

Mary Young,
Alberta, Canada
